Arm Study
This is an arm study I did recently. I’m pretty happy with the results overall. I may want to take if further at some point but I think I got what I wanted out of it for now. While sculpting some of the characters below I had some trouble understanding what was going on in different parts of the arm. Especially the forearm area. I seemed to be able to understand it when I draw, but not when I went to actually sculpt the form. I referenced the arm from a wonderful maquette I bought at Siggraph which was sculpted by Andrew Cawrse. It’s the first time I’ve sculpted something anatomical, and the first time I’ve worked from an actual model sitting on my desk. I have to say I wish I had similar reference all the time. I really enjoyed it. I could feel that it made things a little bit easier to understand right away. Click the smaller images below if your interested in the progression.
